Info: This is the first artwork I created since the full-scale invasion began. At that time I had just escaped to Moldova and was living in Chisinau, in a state of limbo, worried sick about the loved ones left behind. In “Thirteen” I attempted to look at motherhood from Mary’s point of view. The background is carmine red, the colour of blood. Lily flowers, which symbolise Mother of Christ, are tortured by thorns that Jesus was crowned with. What does a mother feel when she sees her child in such pain? This side of mental struggle is seldom talked about in religion.
Prints: I have a selection of limited edition prints available for this artwork. All prints are created on Hahnemühle archival fine art paper which provides for vibrant and long lasting colours. Each print is true to original size, signed and numbered.
