I draw inspiration from other artistic genres: oftentimes music plays a large part in this process. For instance, I created Red Stands for Love after I heard the song by Kvitka Cisyk. I was mesmerised by her voice, and by the song lyrics. I researched any info I could find about the singer and eventually found that she died of cancer at the age of 42. I was touched by this story of her fragile life, and decided to depict Kvitka as a young woman, running across the Garden of Eden, dressed in national garments, a beautiful soul free of pain and suffering.
This artwork was later featured in two biennial exhibitions that were organised by Artists’ Union of Ukraine in Kyiv.
Prints: I have a selection of limited edition prints available for this artwork. All prints are created on Hahnemühle archival fine art paper which provides for vibrant and long lasting colours. Each print is true to original size, signed and numbered.
